Pandemic - Prevalent over a whole country or the world
Global - World wide
Strain - Different type of a virus
Death toll - how many people have died
Relatively Isolated - Having meaning or significance only in relation to something else
First world war - started at 1914
Unsanitary Condition - not clean,dirty
Immune system - Something in your body that fights off the germs
Compromised - weakened
Troops - Soldiers, people going to war
Northern Hemisphere - Top of the world
Southern Hemisphere - Bottom of the world
Influenza -  Highly contagious viral infection

There was a flu in 1918. In New Zealand there was a flu spreading around from one city to
the other. We had a lot of deaths in New Zealand.
The soldiers were from North America then they carried the virus with them to Europe.
The countries that were in the same team were France,
Britain, Russia, Japan, Italy and the United States. The soldiers from the war had the
virus and they spread it to the people in the Northern Hemisphere. After that Most people
recovered and some died.  There was a second type of virus that was coming and this virus
kept killing people. Over 50,00000 died because this virus was more deadly than the first one.
